Syracuse, NY, Febraury 5, 2008 — Syracuse Research Corporation has announced its donation to Onondaga Community College, Syracuse, NY, as part of the Presidential Scholarship Program. The $525,000 gift is the largest in the college’s history, and in SRC’s history of charitable contributions.
Bob Roberts, President and CEO of SRC, stated, “Community investments like this lead to future workforce development. By joining forces with OCC, we hope to encourage other corporate partners to follow our lead and consider higher education funding a priority.”
The Presidential Scholarship Program provides full tuition and fees at OCC to all Onondaga County students who complete high school within the top 20 percent of their graduating class. The program will focus on students studying in mathematics, science, and engineering. SRC’s contribution to the scholarship program will afford those that may not otherwise attend college the opportunity to expand their horizons. The goal is to give young people in our community the opportunity, education, and skills they need to enter the workforce, go on to further education, or even start their own business.
